Rewanui Station

Aerials of the Rewanui station and historical mining features of the area dating from the 1970s. The branch line closed 1985 after the last State mine loading to rail shut down.

The branch line and main railyard, which was split between the station area to the right and the loading backshunt to the left, where the State mines loaded coal into wagons.

A closer view of the station area. Prominent in the centre is the miners’ bathhouse facility, with the station building immediately to its right.

The earlier mines were north (uphill) from the Rewanui station and were connected to it by various haulage roads.
